Opportunities, Family, and the Ultimate Experience. “Look, Simba, everything the light touches is our kingdom.” This may be the cheesiest first sentence to a blog post ever, but the meaning behind it is what counts!
The clubs, the work opportunities, the people, the food. Drexel is an amazing place and I couldn’t be more thankful for being able to be a part of the Drexel community.
Philadelphia is the “kingdom,” Drexel University is Mufasa, and we are Simba. Philadelphia is our kingdom because it provides us with so many opportunities that we wouldn’t get otherwise. Drexel is Mufasa because they’re pushing us to be the best we can be, and providing us with countless opportunities to go out and conquer the world!
When I committed to Drexel University, I did it with just three things in mind: the scholarships I was getting, how close it is to my home, and the wonderful program that I was accepted to. After I moved in, I saw what Drexel really had to offer. The clubs, the work opportunities, the people, the food. Drexel is an amazing place and I couldn’t be more thankful for being able to be a part of the Drexel community.
The part that really amazes me the most about Drexel, however, is how they tie the opportunities and the ultimate Drexel experience together. I am a freshman so I haven’t gone on co-op, but from the stories I’ve been told, it’s only been good things. For me, co-op is definitely a part of the ultimate experience. Even though I won’t be going on my co-op experience for another two years, I am extremely excited about it and to be able to hopefully work somewhere that I will love!
The ultimate Drexel experience also includes the city of Philadelphia and the things that only Drexel can offer us. Drexel has so many wonderful clubs and sports programs, and the location of the campus is an added bonus.
Now, the last thing that Drexel has offered me that I am going to be forever grateful for is the chance to meet new people. I have always been and always will be a shy person – I get extremely nervous at the thought of just having to meet new people. When I came on campus, some of the first people I met were my roommates. I am so glad that I have the roommates I do because they turned out to be more than just friends in the short time that I’ve gotten to know them. These are the people that start out as friends and become family. They’re my family. These people are who I will spend the next four years of my life with and they’re the same people who I will have the ultimate Drexel experience with!
So, all in all, Drexel has provided me with a wonderful experience so far, a great new family, and a wonderful place to continue this journey. So, my fellow Dragons, go out, live your best life at Drexel University, and make the most of your ultimate Drexel experience!
