The amount of opportunities I have been able to be a part of, the countless leadership positions I have held, and the numerous connections I have made prior to graduation are some of the many reasons I am grateful for my experience at Drexel. I feel so prepared for the real world due to all of the knowledge I have gained both in and outside the classroom.
All of my experiences have allowed me to join something bigger than myself and have taught me how to become a better student, leader, chef, friend, and daughter. Some of the organizations I have been able to be a part of include Delta Zeta Sorority, Drexel Food Society (DFS), Drexel Food Lab, and Eta Sigma Delta Honors Society (ESD). Within all of these organizations I have held leadership positions ranging from President of DFS and ESD, to sunshine chair in Delta Zeta, to social media chair in the food lab. In addition, I have done fundraising, and was a new member educator assistant. All of these positions entail a variety of responsibilities, allowing me to grow in so many different areas and work with a variety of people throughout campus. In addition to networking on our diverse campus, my involvement has provided me with industry experience, competitions, and news coverage that I never expected to receive prior to graduation.
Drexel exceeded all of my expectations and a large part of why is due to my campus involvement and the many organizations I became involved in
I have been fortunate enough to travel to Miami, Nashville, and New York assisting Chef Carla Hall at numerous prestigious cooking events. I have also participated in three cooking competitions, finishing second in the Research Chefs Association mystery box challenge for the region, winning the Baldor vegetable blend ideation, and becoming a finalist in a Shake Shack concrete flavor formulation challenge. Regarding news coverage, I never would have expected to be published. However, I have had numerous recipes posted online, have been on Fox 29 News twice, and have been featured in many news articles related to the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management.
All of these experiences have contributed to one of the best chapters of my life. Drexel exceeded all of my expectations and a large part of why is due to my campus involvement and the many organizations I became involved in. Looking back at my experiences, I could not be more satisfied with how far I have come and who I have become. I have Drexel and all the organizations and opportunities I participated in to thank for that.
